Burnt Orange

Hi everyone. Today, I'm going to take you on another 'walk through' of my art creation process. I started with the above image - a floral I captured two-years-ago....in my kitchen, with off camera flash, while the chrysanthemum was placed on a white paper towel. Oh, the fancy gadgets I have!

After opening the image in my first chosen photo editing program, I diffused it just enough to make the white paper towel background even more white....this also added a little soft focus to the edges of the flower. And, of course, I saved the image. I've had my computer crash more than once while working on art, so I now know enough to save, save, save!

After getting the background white, I decided to add a gold toned texture, to give the image none other than a dirty look. Go figure. Strange artist! I then saved the image, again.

I opened the image in a second photo editing program and added a slight bit of clarification; just enough to darken the edges of the mum. And you guessed it, I saved the image yet again.

I opened a third photo editing program and added some gold tint, brown tone and detail to the image. Mainly around the texture and edges of the flower. This made the flower pop and gave the texture the correct amount of detail that I was looking for.

After saving the image, again, I opened the fourth, and final photo editing program. Here I added a light, transparent grunge edge to the image....and layered the entire image on a white background. One last 'save' and my artwork was complete. I titled the piece "Burnt Orange" and it's available at my RedBubble gallery as cards and prints. Enjoy!!
